Now more than ever we have a need to quickly scan important documents: From uploading documents into integrated cloud services to optimizing our workspace, scanners are an important tool in the office. Like with any technology, there are a lot of options out there when it comes to scanners. Knowing which one is best can be a tricky task. That is why we have compiled a shortlist of three of the best scanners that are currently on the market.
If you are like me, you probably first turn to Amazon when it comes to shopping. To save you a bit of time, Amazon’s Choice for scanners is the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500. It is a reasonable size, allowing you to fit it on most desks. It has a double-sided scanning capability that allows you to feed up to 50 sheets of paper. It performs a scan correction to ensure that your scans are of quality which includes auto color detection, rotation for upside down documents and blank page removal. You can scan your documents directly into Dropbox, Google Drive, and Evernote. It is compatible with iOS and Windows devices. It is currently listed at $419.99, and you can add 3 to 4-year protection as well.
Scanners can be pricey, and that is why we have included this scanner which is more on the low end in terms of price. This scanner does not have all the features that the previous scanners do and is far simpler. It has the capability to scan a single page, double sided, in a single pass. It has wireless connectivity, has a touch screen for easy navigation, and a USB interface. It is listed at $174.00, but keep in mind it doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles that other scanners have. If you want something simple that can scan simple documents, and items like receipts, I.D. Cards, and Photos, then this scanner will get the job done.
The final scanner on this shortlist is middle of the road in terms of price when compared to the previous two scanners. Moreover, it not your simple scanner but can also copy, fax, wide-format printing, wireless printing, and AirPrint. By downloading the HP ePrint app, you can use your iPhone or iPad to print. It has the capability to create color prints that range in size from 3×5 and 11×17 inches. It comes with a one-year limited hardware warrant as well as web support. Coming in at $199.99, it is a sure way to get more bang for your buck.
Selecting the best scanner
What you should do is determine what your scanning needs are. If you don’t have a printer, then maybe you should consider getting a product like the HP product we listed here that can do multiple things. Sometimes, it’s nice to get a product that does one thing really well. So, weigh your options and figure out where your budget aligns with capability.
